September is Responsible Dog Ownership Month

Responsible Dog Ownership Month MCAH

One way to celebrate Responsible Dog Ownership month is to ensure that you’re giving your precious pup plenty of TLC

September is not only Animal Pain Awareness month, but it’s Responsible Dog Ownership month as well! Today we’ll cover how you can be a responsible dog owner and take care of your canine companion in the best ways possible! We’ll go over several aspects of wellness care and the importance of microchipping your pet.

Wellness Care

One way to honor Responsible Dog Ownership month is to focus on wellness care. Wellness care includes routine exams, vaccines, flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. It also includes at-home dental care and bringing your fur baby into our office to check on their dental health. Don’t forget that February is Pet Dental Health Month, and you can save money on dental cleanings! They’re 10% off when you schedule them within 30 days of a DVM recommendation.

Microchipping

Microchipping is another way to ensure that you’re a responsible dog (and cat) owner. If your canine companion ever loses their way, a microchip gives your pet the best chance at returning home. If your dog is already microchipped, ensure that all registration information is up-to-date. If you have yet to microchip your pet, reach out to us right away.

A Few Ways to Celebrate Responsible Dog Ownership Month

There are so many ways to show how fantastic of a pet parent you are! Make sure to talk your canine companion for a walk or each day (while social distancing, of course!). Fetch is another excellent form of exercise. Your pet will pretty much appreciate anything that keeps them engaged and stimulated. Just as people need quality time, so do pets!

Another way to be a responsible dog owner is to, of course, keep your pet safe. Ensure that you have proper fencing, ensure that your dog’s leash isn’t damaged and that all clips are in working order. Also, make sure that your precious pup is getting plenty of fresh water and maintaining a healthy diet! Finally, share adorable pictures of your precious pup on social media and use the hashtag #ResponsibleDogOwnershipMonth.
